Executive Director
Gabriel Sanders
Born in Sonoma County, Gabriel now resides in Monterey, California. There he earned his Master’s Degree in Public Administration at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies in 2019 and returned in 2022 to work for organizations advocating for climate-friendly workforce housing development policy. He founded his own consulting firm in 2024, managing successful campaigns for local pro-housing elected officials and fostering workforce housing development across the Monterey Peninsula Bay Area
Gabriel decided in Spring of 2024 that the time was right to bring a community land trust to our region as a vehicle for creating permanently affordable rental and homeownership opportunities for the local workforce. He founded the Opportunity Housing Trust knowing that local governments and private sector developers would benefit from a nonprofit landowner partner to bring down costs and galvanize private sector fundraising, pioneering a new model for workforce housing in our region.
In his spare time, Gabriel serves on the board for Habitat for Humanity, pours wine at a local wine bar, and pampers his two rescue cats, Apollo and Athena, while watching the extended editions of the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
